Wandiligong Hedge Maze

We planned a trip to the Wandiligong Hedge Maze.  We went up to spend the day in Bright, a beautiful Victorian alpine town that is a popular local mountain retreat.  Wandiligong is a small country town near by and they have this amazing hedge maze.  We had recently been reading Harry Potter books too so the hedge maze was all that much more exciting. Here we are at the entrance...hopefully you will see us again some day.

One of the objectives of the maze is to find your way to certain objects.  The little rose bush was one...Yay, we found it.  Unfortunately we were unable to find out way through to the end of maze. Luckily we found the entrance again, went back to the office and bought a post card an aerial photo of the maze and some water.

With the "map", we were ready to give it another shot.

Here we are at the platform, the final object and grand finale of the maze.  Whew!  Now how do we find out way out?!  Actually, it wasn't too bad with the post card.

During our lunch break, the kids played in a mini hedge maze that had a playground in the middle of it.

The grounds were beautiful, lots of trees, lots of colors and the day was warm and sunny. Perfect.

After the hedge maze, we found another place near by that had a sign that said "Chinese Bridge".  It was a bit of a hike, but we went to check it out.  On the way we found some friendly animals to visit.

Yes, this is a Chinese bridge in the middle of the mountains of Victoria Australia??? As random as this may have been, it was a fun little hike and an enjoyable family adventure.

For our afternoon fun, we stopped in a place called Porpunkna to play in the river.  As the day was long, warm and sunny, it was a fitting activity to close out the day.  Snacks, cold drinks and some cool mountain water to play in.  What a lovely day.

We went to sit on the beach underneath the road bridge that offered us some shade and a spot with a bit of a mild current along the beach so it would be safer for the kids.

Liam was practicing skipping rocks, and collecting every specimen that caught his eye.
