Halloween

Here's what to do when you live in a country with NO TRICK OR TREATING. We made a map of all the rooms in our house and numbered them. We had the kids stay in the living room with the doors shut while Will and I dressed up in different clothes in each room and had the kids come trick or treat at that door like it was a different house. The normal peoples house.

The doctors house.

Farewell Tassie

Today was our last day in Tasmania.  We drove to downtown Hobart to explore some more and go to the Salamanca Market which is held weekly right down on the waters edge near the wharf.  It was a bit chilly today, but the sun was shining and we had a great walk through Hobart Town. We found a street named after our family on the other side of the world. How cool is that?
We played a bit of chess.

Maeby and Spence closing in on Liam.

Maebys last move...Check Mate!

Maeby didn't want to go, she wanted to stay and play.

On our way to the airport, we stopped by the Royal Botanical Gardens and explored a bit.

Melanie blended in nicely with the spring bloom.

Liam looking as cool as ever.

And look, the kids found a friend.

This bird nearly ate out of Melanie's hand.

Maeby has to climb everything...just like her brother Liam.

Maeby found some lovely flowers she wanted to share.

Mel and Maeby under the archway near the gorgeous old brick wall.

Long, fast day took its toll on Spencer as we sat in the airport waiting for our flight back to Melbourne.

Maeby was zonking out too.

Liam causing his normal mischief as we all tried to relax and wait for the plane.

Spencer passed the time playing games.

Maeby worked on her sticker book.
Soon, we were off, and on our back back home. What an awesome week we had visiting Tasmania, we saw and did so much yet we barely scratched the surface.  What a beautiful place.

Dinner Cruise in the bay

After our morning at the museum, we took a walk around downtown Hobart, had some lunch, explored a bit then took a dinner cruise out around the bay and up the Derwent River a ways.  We had such a nice time.

Some cool old buildings downtown, built out of the local sandstone. (the tan one)

An old style sailing ship, looked so neat.  There were sooooo many ropes it was incredible.

Lunch time down near Samamanca where they have the market every weekend.  Found a nice local bakery and we all got something yummy.

These were to public toilets, how artsy.

Off we go on our cruise, leaving the wharf at Hobart Town.

The views of Hobart Town, all the houses build up on the hills.

Starting Dinner on the boat with some warm soup.

This bridge (or the old one in its place) was hit by a boat and crumbled dropping a whole section of road between the pylons. Several people drove over the edge because they could not see the road was out, even with people out of their cars running and waiving, people still drove over the edge paying no heed to the warnings.  We had a member of the Mission Presidency give us a talk and used this experience as a gospel lesson. It was a really profound and memorable metaphor.

The family at the back of the boat, too bad you could not see the background we were trying to capture.

Here's our boat

Dinner time.

Playtime at the back of the boat as we cruised around the bay.

Sea sick or just weird?
