Australian Outback Spectacular

We had a fantastic vacation planned for the Gold Coast of Australia, a little bit of something for everyone. Unfortunately almost all of the first day was used up waiting for dense fog to clear out of the Albury airport. Our flight was supposed to leave at about 8:00am, we sat till after 12:30pm, missing our connecting flight in Sydney. Luckily we were able to book another one for that afternoon that got us out to the Gold Coast just in time to make it to our Show. It was pretty stressful all day, not knowing if we were out several hundred bucks and a full day of vacation, but it turned out alright. We went straight from the airport to the Outback Spectacular Dinner Show. It was great, all of the kids loved it, but Melanie was completely lost in it. It was great to see them all so happy and so absorbed in the event. It was pretty amazing what they had done in just a small arena. Here are some photos from the show.

Rounding up the cattle on horseback and by chopper, the old days and the new working together. The helicopter was obviously a prop, but it looked (and sounded) real, especially to kids. The whole thing was an immersing experience with the lighting and the sound effects and the live animals, plus the food was awesome.
